Textastic is a powerful text, code, and markup editor for the iPad. I suppose someone forgot to tell Alexander Blach the iPad isn’t for creating.
It’s great for making changes to your site when you don’t have access to your Mac or when you’d rather just use your iPad. It’s easy to use (no small achievement), has find-and-replace, and a row at the top of the keyboard with common programming characters.
Textastic supports syntax highlighting for more than 80 languages and can be extended, too. It connects to (S)FTP, Dropbox and WebDAV servers, and previews HTML and Markdown documents.
I love applications that turn the iPad into a device for making things, because not only are they useful, but they remind me how far we’ve come in a few years. Writing code on a fully touch-screen device? That’s special.
Textastic for iPad is just $9.99 and is available on the App Store.
