AT&T opens their 3G network to VoIP applications on the iPhone.
Interesting change. Theoretically, you wouldn’t need to use the iPhone’s phone application at all — but that doesn’t sound very convenient. This will be a nice option for reducing your consumption of minutes, however.
What’s more interesting, though, is what a big policy shift for AT&T this is. VoIP over the network was one of the clear dividing lines as to what is and isn’t allowed, and that’s now gone. I wonder if we’ll be getting Slingbox over the network soon as well.
