Google’s Driverless Cars and Car Subscriptions

October 13th, 2010

Dorin Levin:

Cars that don’t need drivers also may not need private owners – since they could be summoned remotely and returned once their journey is complete. Why take on a lease if you can purchase a subscription to a car instead?

Smart point. Levin is referencing Google’s experiment with self-driving cars, which apparently have been a total success.

A subscription to a car seems like it’d be a great thing for people who live in urban or semi-urban environments.
