Steven Frank, who switched to Android after the App Store’s latest batch of rejections, also received an email from Phil Schiller addressing his complaints:
I haven’t sought Phil’s explicit permission to republish the letter, so I won’t do so here. But to summarize, he said: “we’re listening to your feedback”. Not all of my suggested solutions were viable, he said, but they were taking it all in as they continue to evolve the app store.
It’s now pretty clear Apple is earnestly moving to address the App Store’s problems. That’s a good thing. What’s even better is they are publicly acknowledging that it has problems.
A product with problems is okay, if the company acknowledges them and that they need fixed. The biggest problem was Apple was completely silent about them as developers and users suffered. That’s no longer the case.
This is the Apple I like to see: always trying to do better.
