Pixar’s Building Design and Creativity

April 13th, 2009

Director of The Incredibles and Ratatouille, Brad Bird:

Steve put the mailboxes, the meetings rooms, the cafeteria, and, most insidiously and brilliantly, the bathrooms in the center-—which initially drove us crazy—-so that you run into everybody during the course of a day.

People wonder why Pixar is so successful. It isn’t something mystical or hard to understand: it is because, from top to bottom, everyone at Pixar wants to make the best film possible. The best story, the best dialogue, the best animation — they want it to be amazing, and they put their lives into each film.

This is an example of that dedication. How many companies design their building to promote creativity? Not many.
