Tags is a new application from Gravity Apps which allows you to tag almost anything in Mac OS X, through a quick and simple UI.

I love the idea, and it looks like a great implementation, and it’s especially exciting to see because I want OS X to move toward metadata rather than hierarchical organization. But I think the approach Apple is developing in iPhoto is superior — data should organize itself rather than rely on the user. When the user is required to add tags for each piece of data, it just isn’t going to happen.
