Space with your Em Dash?

This is where this post title gets it’s name. Whether or not an em dash is to be used with spaces or without seems more a matter of preference. Personal if you are writing for your own blog, organizational if you write for a publication of some sort.
Something I have been interested in, too, especially since Kirk Lennon at Newsvine critiqued my double-hyphens. (Thanks, Kirk.)
Personally, I prefer the em dash with a space rather than without, but I have no real basis for making that preference.
